9 Benefits of Clarity + Friday Field Trip Registration Closes Today!

Today is the last day to sign up for the inaugural Friday Field Trip on Aug 22! It's going to be a small group, so if you'd like a lot of personalized coaching attention without the overwhelm of a crowd, this event is for you!

The theme is Clarity 101 and there will be a parallel virtual workshop version of this topic on Aug 15.

In honor of the theme, here are nine benefits of clarity. It makes life easier in so many ways!

1. Clarity means honoring what’s true for you and your preferences in life.
This concept has been at the heart of over fifteen years of career coaching. When you know who you are, what you prefer, and what dreams are in your heart then you can honor those things with the way you live your life.

2. When you have a clear target, you can take action towards it.
Again, based on my career coaching work I’ve seen the tremendous difference it makes to home in on a target. When we know something needs to change, but we aren’t sure what exactly to do about it it’s easy to get lost in thought or to go around in circles. But when you know where you’re going you can design a plan and get to work on it.

3. Clarity means you know what to focus on and what’s unimportant. It helps you make decisions faster.
When you know what you’re working on you’re able to design your life towards that aim and build momentum. This focus keeps you on track and reduces decision making fatigue. Opportunities are either in line with where you’re going or they aren’t.

4. Clarity lets you know what part of a situation is yours vs. someone else’s.
This comes into play in any relational context. Knowing where you end and someone else begins helps you to take on things that are appropriate and leave other things alone. It also helps you to set boundaries to protect your space.

5. Knowing where you are and what’s real right now can help you to respond more effectively.
Life is always changing! And each different season of life requires different strategies. When you’re clear on the season that you’re in you can meet it appropriately. This creates a better lived experience. It’s like using your summer gear in summertime instead of in wintertime.

6. Naming the actual problem that you’re working on solving means less frustration and wasted time working the wrong problem.
Sometimes there’s the problem we think we’re having and then the problem we’re actually having. When you can correctly name the problem that you’re having you can get to work on solving it and actually make progress on it. When you’re working the wrong problem, you’re not going to make the same progress.

7. When you’re clear on what you need, you can ask for help.
This is one of my favorite things! There are so many resources and ways to approach problems. So, when you know what problem you’re having, you can pull in the right resources. You can ask for the help that will make a difference for you.

8. When you’re clear on what you need it is so much easier for other people to help you.
This is a flip of number seven, but when you’ve clearly defined the problem you’re having then other people can help you way more easily. Generally saying “something is wrong” gives people a much harder time than “I’m working on x. Could you help me with this specific part of it?”

9. Clarity gives you a greater sense of the journey you’re on and the progress you’re making.
When you know what you’re working on and you’re taking action towards improving it, then you will feel more accomplished. You’ll see your progress and accompanying growth over time. This feels good!

During both the Friday Field Trip and the corresponding virtual workshop I’ll be going over my best frameworks to help you get more clarity around what’s going on in your life right now so that you can respond more effectively.
