Don’t Miss This Insight!
During a recent Clarity Circle meeting one of the members noted this fascinating insight.
"I'm really good at self care, but I'm really not so good at self compassion," she said.
We went on to discuss how self-care has a lot to do with taking care of yourself in the external world - like moving your body, engaging in hobbies, and seeing friends.
But self compassion (or self love) is more of the internal landscape that you're living in.
It's how you talk to yourself when no one else is looking and the amount of kindness and grace you're able to offer yourself as you go through life. This could look like acknowledgement, patience, reassurance, or encouragement.
I had never heard or thought about this distinction before, but I love this framework so much! (Thank you team for teaching it to me!)
I'm curious - do you relate?
Do you find yourself being harsh or critical to yourself when you make a mistake?
Is it difficult to be understanding and kind to yourself when things are hard?
Does your internal landscape feel constantly demanding and dissatisfied?
If so, I'd love to invite you to join this Clarity Circle!
Self compassion is one of the themes we're exploring together, even as the group members are going through different life experiences.
By joining the Clarity Circle you'll:
improve the one place that is always with you - your inner world!
learn practical tools to improve your self compassion
receive modeling of kindness and support from the group
We're about a month in, so now is a perfect time to jump in and join the conversation.
The Clarity Circle format is a small group that meets once a week (with 3-4 holiday weeks) for an hour. This is a virtual, facilitated conversation.
